At Mudita Adventures, we’re committed to directing a meaningful percentage of every tour price toward local community projects. In Mongolia, we’re currently funding running water infrastructure for a nomadic community — a project that will transform daily life for dozens of families.
Minimize Your Environmental Impact
- Never leave waste behind in nature — pack everything out
- Use a reusable water bottle and purification tablets rather than buying plastic bottles
- Stick to established tracks where they exist to avoid damaging fragile steppe vegetation
- Respect sacred sites (ovoo) and ask permission before photographing
- Use solar-powered or battery lighting rather than fires when possible
Cultural Respect
- Always accept offered food and drink with both hands or your right hand — refusal can cause offense
- Walk around (clockwise) any ovoo (cairn) you encounter — never through them
- Remove your hat when entering a ger
- Don’t point your feet toward the hearth or toward people
- Ask permission before photographing individuals, particularly at festivals
Responsible Photography
Eagle hunters and festival participants are people, not photo opportunities. Always ask permission before taking close-up portraits. Offer to share your contact details so you can send copies of photos. The Golden Eagle Festival has seen an influx of photographers — remember that the hunters are participating in a cultural event, not performing for tourism.
Offset Your Carbon Footprint
International flights generate significant carbon emissions. Consider offsetting your flight through a reputable carbon offset program. Many organizations fund renewable energy or reforestation projects in developing countries, including Mongolia itself.
